Remember, you can always work on mastering learning goals from previous quarters. For example, if you have some evidence that proves you can write using sentence variety, make sure you show me that particular assignment and tell me that you want to use it for a specific learning goal.
This week, our main focus will be creating evidence to show mastery of INFORMATIVE WRITING. If you feel behind, you can always take your writing home to catch up. We will also have some time to work on missing assignments and/or revising previous writing pieces.

STEP 1: Check your grades to see if you have mastered the learning goal, "I can edit and revise to improve my writing."
STEP 2: If you have NOT mastered that goal yet, click HERE for more practice. Remember: 'Editing' means to FIX. 'Revising' means to IMPROVE. STEP 3: Once you have practiced and you feel confident, see Mrs. Mense to take Edit/Revise Quiz 4. No writing homework this week.
Instead of DO NOWs, you will be participating in Writer's Choice for the first 10 minutes of class each day. On Monday, you will be given instructions, and you will brainstorm possible writing topics. Please remember to bring your Writer's Choice papers every day to class. Be sure to date them. You will need to keep them all in a section of your notebook, or perhaps use No Writing Homework.

Create a GOOGLE DOC in which you identify things you would do if you are revising vs. things you would do if you are editing. Perhaps a T-chart? A web? This should be a document that will actually help you when you are editing and revising. Due: Thursday, 4/17 REMINDER:If you have not turned in last week's writing assignment (choose-your-own-topic ARGUMENT essay), you need to do that ASAP! STEP 1: Decide on a debatable topic that you feel strongly about. Complete an "issue--claim--thesis" form (get a copy from the teacher). Show this completed form to the teacher and get approval before moving to step 2. STEP 2: Research! Use the Argumentative Writing Graphic Organizer to organize your ideas and research. STEP 3: Compose your argument! Remember, you must have an intro, a body (body could be multiple paragraphs), and conclusion.
There is no writing homework this week.
